If Only ...
I recently listened to Linchpin: Are You Indispensable? by Seth Godin and one thing really stuck out to me afterwards. A single sentence.
Here's a quote from the book:
"If only" is a great way to eliminate your excuse du jour. "If only" is an obligator, because once you get rid of that item, you've got no excuse left, only the obligation.
It's simple and brilliant. It's a great way to help you acheive your goal by finding and addressing your obstacle and excuse. You can use it in your personal life or at work.
- Examples:
- I could be good at surfing if only I lived on the beach.
- I could be a great boss if only I had a mentor.
- I could be an entrepreneur if only I had co-founders.
